Toastmasters at Pernod Ricard Rouss

Just this recent Wednesday, January 17th, a themed demo meeting was organized by Moscow TM community (just with a little help 🙂) and specifically by the hospitable hostess in Pernod Ricard Rouss company, a member of Autour du Mot French speaking club, our charming Téodora Ivin!

26804651_865230123657915_4463736900446169312_nIt is also worth noting that the meeting was followed by informal chatting and networking accompanied by wine, cheese, bread and seasoned fruit provided by Pernod Ricard Rouss (yummy! 🙂)

This initiative was taken to promote the Toastmasters club but most of all to raise the important role of public speaking in a multinational company such as Pernod Ricard Rouss. Members of Moscow Area as well as representatives of literally all 6 (+1) Moscow TM clubs joined this fabulous meeting!

But not only TM members were there on Wednesday. For this occasion, more than 20 (!!) employees joined this convivial event. We had the chance to hear the Icebreaker speech of one of our dedicated member who fell in love with the club, Lilya (Lili Galiullinacongrats! you are a true Toastmaster now! 🙂)

Here is what Teodora herself says about this event:

“I am even more glad that speaking in public in English was one of her biggest fear and she faced it with a very inspiring speech. Even more employees played the game and went on stage on the improvisation session!

Feedbacks I received so far are very positive: they praised the professionalism of the speakers, the great humor, as well as the organization!

My expectations for the future afterwards this event is first to collect useful feedbacks, then to check a list of employees interested to continue with such an event on a regular basis. If the number of people is enough to open a club, then I will consider this event as a success!

I would like to thank again a last time warmly the entire toastmasters community who helped me, support me and showed a perfect model of how is supposed to be a great Toastmasters meeting!

WINTER CONFERENCE on December 2, 2017

We’re happy to share the exciting news with you: our Winter Conference is going to take place on December 2, 2017! As many of you already know, this is one of the most important events we hold each year. It’s when we all come together, and Moscow Area clubs’ best speakers cross their swords to win the coveted 1st prize.

This time each Moscow chartered club has the right to nominate one speaker for each of the following Area contests:

Humorous Speech contest (in ENG)
Table Topics contest (in ENG)
Humorous Speech contest (in RUS)

So the busy season starts now! The clubs will now have their own internal competitions to determine who’s going to represent them in the finals. As an exception, clubs can also nominate a volunteer without holding a contest (e.g. non-Russian speaking clubs can put forward one of their members for the Humorous speech contest in Russian).

We at Moscow Area encourage all you club members to throw your hats in the ring and take part in the club contests!

Toastmasters Winter Conference Russia

Toastmasters are jazzing it up!

In a second jazz-related Toastmasters event this year in Moscow (see Jazz and Talks if you missed the first one), Worldsurfers club is having a demo meeting at Skolkovo Jazz Science Festival on Aug 26!
Big thanks to the American Center of the Library of Foreign Literature – a long-standing partner of WorldSurfers club and the wider Moscow Toastmasters community – for providing this opportunity.

In 2016, Skolkovo Jazz festival was recognized as the best jazz event of the year and, keeping up the tradition, this year the venue will become an area of improvisation and an ideal place to demonstrate new creative abilities. The guests of the festival will have an opportunity to dive into the world of experimental media technologies and to learn how innovation in science is increasingly becoming a new tool for art creation. See more at the official festival website.

At this year’s festival, WorldSurfers are going to hold a special themed meeting entitled “Jazz it up!”. Honored club members, fellow Toastmasters from other clubs, guests and newcomers are welcome to this event!
The demo event will be held in a form of a regular Toastmasters meeting and will feature some of the most experienced members of the Russian Toastmasters community. As always, we will provide lots of interactive opportunities for the audience and will encourage our guests to take the stage so that each and every participant could share our excitement and feel part of this fabulous event.

Skolkovo Jazz Science festival will take place on Saturday, August 26th, at the Skolkovo Innovation Center located at Nobelya st., 1. You can find detailed information on how to reach the venue here. Our meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Kindly note the entrance fee to the festival is 1500 rub, you can purchase admission tickets on-line here. For any questions concerning the admission to the Skolkovo Jazz Science, please address the staff of the festival.
Don’t miss such a great chance to improve your public-speaking skills in the unique environment made up of the blend of science and art at the heart of Russian innovation! We look forward very much to meeting you on Saturday!mailrusigimg_HufEsA69
